Hardware
Business-grade computers, peripherals, networking gear, and POS hardware — sourced, configured on Ubuntu, delivered, and set up. Transparent procurement pricing, a real human in Klamath Falls, and zero Windows licensing or Microsoft tax.
1What we do
Business hardware procurement, configuration on Ubuntu Linux, delivery, and ongoing support — without the big-box markup or the on-your-own DIY of buying direct online.
Most small businesses buy hardware in one of two bad ways. Option one: drive to Best Buy and pay retail markup for a consumer-grade machine pre-loaded with Windows bloatware that slows to a crawl by year two. Option two: order off Amazon or Newegg and spend a Saturday wrestling with driver installs and the realization that the cheapest model didn't include the cable or the warranty option you actually needed.
Lucky Duck Hardware is the third path: we source business-grade equipment at procurement pricing, configure it on Ubuntu Desktop or Ubuntu Server, deliver it ready-to-use, and stay available when something breaks. You pay our procurement-plus-services rate; in exchange, you get hardware that works on day one, no Windows licensing fees, and someone to call when it doesn't.
Linux-only by design
Every Lucky Duck-delivered machine runs Ubuntu Desktop or Ubuntu Server. We do not install, configure, or support Windows or macOS systems. This is a deliberate stance — Linux is more secure, more transparent, more performant on the hardware tiers we ship, and free of the licensing and telemetry overhead that drains small-business IT budgets year after year.
Want our honest answer for fixing a slow Windows PC? Install Ubuntu. That's the best fix for Windows — don't use it. We'll happily migrate your existing machine for $50 (free when bundled with a DuckBot deployment).
2What we source
We focus on business hardware for the office and the field. We don't do gaming PCs, consumer gadgets, or specialty audio/video gear — that's not our lane and we're honest about it. Within business hardware, here's what we regularly source and configure:
Computers
Desktops, laptops, mini-PCs (Dell Optiplex / Optiplex Micro / 5070-class), workstations. Imaged with Ubuntu Desktop, hardened security baseline, your business apps pre-installed, ready on first boot. No Windows tax.
Monitors + displays
Single, dual, or multi-monitor workstation setups. Ergonomic mounts, anti-glare options. Reception-area + conference-room displays. Touch displays for POS / kiosk use.
Peripherals
Keyboards, mice, headsets, webcams, docking stations, USB hubs, cables. The unglamorous stuff that makes a workstation actually work — sourced and bundled with your computer order, not as an afterthought.
Networking
Business routers, managed switches, access points, firewalls. Right-sized for office Wi-Fi coverage, multi-VLAN setups, point-to-point links between locations. Site survey available for non-trivial deployments.
Scanners + barcode equipment
Document scanners (Brother / Fujitsu), barcode scanners (Honeywell / Zebra / TC51-class for warehouse + field use), receipt printers, signature pads. Configured to talk to your POS, inventory, or document workflow software.
Label + receipt printers
Zebra label printers (ZP-series, ZD-series) for shipping + inventory + asset tagging. Receipt printers for retail and food-service POS. Set up with the right driver, label stock, and software integration.
Point-of-sale hardware
Full POS station bundles — touch displays, cash drawers, receipt printers, barcode scanners, payment terminals. Configured for Square, Clover, Toast, or your existing POS platform.
Office printers + multifunction
Business-grade laser and inkjet printers, all-in-one MFPs with scan/copy/fax, network printers shared across an office. Drivers and shared-print setup included.
UPS + power protection
Uninterruptible power supplies for servers, network equipment, POS terminals. Surge protection. Generator-ready configurations for businesses in outage-prone areas. Sized correctly for your actual load, not "whatever was on sale."
3DuckBot-ready hardware
If you're considering a DuckBot deployment, the hardware is part of that package — you don't need to source it separately.
DuckBot ships on Lucky Duck-spec'd hardware: typically a Dell 5070 Micro (or Optiplex Micro equivalent) configured with the Linux runtime, the Clawdio agent stack, and the integrations to your Zoho One workspace. The hardware tier you pick on the DuckBot page — Standard, Pro, or Enterprise — already includes the right machine for that scope of work.
This Hardware service is for everything else — the rest of your office that isn't the DuckBot itself. Workstations for your team, monitors, scanners, printers, networking, POS gear. We can bundle a DuckBot deployment with a complete office hardware refresh as a single engagement; ask during consultation.
4Engagement types
Three ways to engage with Lucky Duck for hardware. Pricing is procurement-cost-plus-services and gets quoted per order during consultation — every order is different (volume, configuration complexity, on-site work needed) so we don't publish flat tier prices.
Why no prices on this page? Hardware pricing changes daily as manufacturer rebates, Dell business pricing, and component costs shift. A "tier price" published online would be wrong by next week. What stays constant is our procurement-plus-services model: you pay the hardware procurement cost plus our service rate for sourcing, configuring, delivering, and setting it up.
What's transparent: the line items. Every Lucky Duck hardware quote breaks out the hardware procurement cost and the services portion as separate lines, so you can see exactly what you're paying for.

5Lucky Duck vs alternatives
Where Lucky Duck Hardware fits compared to the alternatives:
| Option | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Lucky Duck Hardware | Local Klamath Falls / Eagle Point / Medford / Ashland / Redding business that wants business-grade hardware procured, configured, delivered, and set up — with someone local to call when it breaks. | Best fit when you value time-to-productive over chasing the absolute lowest sticker price. |
| Best Buy / Office Depot retail | Walking out same-day with a single piece of consumer-grade equipment. | Retail markup. Consumer-grade only. No setup, no configuration, no business-tier support — you're on your own once you leave the parking lot. |
| Costco Business Center | Bulk supplies and some computer hardware at competitive pricing. | Limited model selection (whatever Costco stocks). No setup. Returns can be friction-y for business equipment. |
| Direct online — Newegg, Amazon Business, B&H | Maximum flexibility on model selection. Often the lowest sticker price. | You ARE the IT department. Configuration, drivers, software install, RMA coordination — all yours. Save money, spend a lot of weekends. |
| Dell Direct / HP Direct (manufacturer) | Volume orders going through manufacturer business sales channels. | Pricing is OK once you're large enough to get assigned a rep. Setup and configuration still on you. |
| Big-name MSP (managed services provider) | Larger organizations needing 24/7 IT operations, dedicated tickets, full enterprise stack. | Enterprise pricing for enterprise scope. Often locked into multi-year contracts. Overkill for most small businesses. |
6How an order runs
From "we need new computers" to "everything's set up and working":
- Discovery / requirements call (30-45 min)What are you replacing or adding? How many people? What software needs to run on it? What's the current pain point? Out of this conversation we know what to spec.
- QuoteItemized quote with hardware procurement cost + services portion broken out as separate lines. No mystery-bundle pricing. You either approve, ask for adjustments (different model? remove an item?), or pass.
- Order + procurement50% deposit on orders over $2,500; smaller orders billed Net 10 on delivery. We place the procurement order with our suppliers (Dell business / HP / etc.). Lead time is usually 1-3 weeks depending on what's in stock.
- Configuration in our shopHardware arrives at our office. We unbox, run BIOS/firmware updates, install OS + security baseline + your apps, run a 24-hour burn-in test on each machine, document the serial / asset tag / warranty info.
- Delivery + setupWe bring the configured hardware to your location. On-site setup time included per tier. We confirm everything works on YOUR network, with YOUR users, before we leave.
- Final invoice + asset documentationFinal invoice on completion. Asset inventory document (model / serial / warranty expiry / your tag) delivered alongside the equipment.
- Post-delivery support window30 days for Single Order, 60 days for Office Refresh, ongoing for Retainer. If something setup-related goes wrong, we're the first call. Manufacturer warranty handles hardware defects for the device's warranty period.
7FAQ
What's the markup over your procurement cost?
Honest answer: we don't publish a flat percentage because it varies by order complexity. A simple "buy and deliver one laptop" has different services cost than "spec, source, configure, deliver, and set up 12 workstations across 2 locations." During consultation we'll give you the procurement cost AND the services cost as separate line items in the quote, so you see exactly what each portion is. If you want to compare us to retail or direct online, you have the data to do it.
Can I just bring you something I bought online?
Yes — we do setup-only engagements at our hourly rate ($95/hr, business hours) for hardware you already own. The services-on-its-own approach makes sense if you've already bought the equipment and just need configuration / setup help. The trade-off: we can't help you with hardware mistakes that would have been avoided in spec'ing — wrong model, wrong specs, missing accessories — because those decisions were already made.
What brands do you work with?
For business computers we lean on Dell (Optiplex / Latitude / Precision) and HP business lines as our defaults — they have business-tier support, parts availability, and warranty programs that work for our scale. For peripherals we follow what works: Logitech for keyboards/mice/webcams, Brother and Fujitsu for scanners, Zebra and Honeywell for barcode equipment, APC for UPS. We can source other brands on request; we'll just be honest about whether we have direct experience with them.
Do you handle warranty claims?
For the first year of manufacturer warranty, yes — we coordinate the RMA on your behalf as part of the support window. After year one, you can either (1) handle warranty directly with the manufacturer (warranty stays with the device, not Lucky Duck), or (2) come back to us under the Ongoing Hardware Retainer where RMA coordination is included. For extended warranties / accident protection plans purchased at order time, we maintain those records and coordinate claims for the life of the plan.
Why don't you support Windows or Mac?
Honest answer: because we'd rather build deeply on a platform we trust than half-heartedly support three platforms we don't. Ubuntu is more secure, more transparent, more performant on the hardware tiers we ship, and free of the licensing / telemetry / update churn that makes Windows expensive to own over time. Standardizing on Ubuntu means every Lucky Duck-deployed machine is identical, which makes our support load deterministic and our response times reliable. If your team needs Windows-only software for a specific reason, we can usually run that one app inside a Linux-hosted VM during your transition — but the host OS stays Ubuntu.
What if my whole team currently uses Windows?
That's exactly the situation we're built to fix. We'll scope a transition plan during consultation — typically replacing one or two workstations first as a pilot, training the team on the Ubuntu equivalents (LibreOffice for Office, Thunderbird for Outlook, etc.), running any Windows-only legacy apps inside a VM during the bridge period, and migrating the rest of the fleet once the team's comfortable. Most teams adapt within a couple of weeks. The other end of the journey: lower licensing cost, faster machines, fewer update interruptions, no telemetry phoning home.
Can you set up Linux-native auth / shared file access for multi-user offices?
Yes — that's an add-on for office deployments. LDAP or FreeIPA for centralized user accounts, Samba for cross-platform file shares (so anyone on the network can access shared folders), CUPS for shared network printing, and OpenSSH for secure remote access. For larger offices we'd scope it as a Custom Engagement so the network design gets proper attention before purchasing equipment.
Do you do data migration from my old Windows or Mac computer?
Yes — that's one of our most common add-ons. We pull files, browser bookmarks, email archives, and app data from the old machine (Windows or Mac) and migrate to your new Ubuntu workstation. Cloud-based services (Zoho, Google Workspace) typically just need re-login on the new machine, not migration. We'll flag anything platform-specific that won't migrate cleanly (locally-stored licenses, OS-specific app data) so you know what to expect.
I already have a Windows PC — can you fix it?
Honest answer? The best fix for a slow, ad-littered, update-frustrated Windows PC is to install Ubuntu on it. We offer that as a $50 service (free when bundled with a DuckBot deployment): we back up your data, wipe the drive, install Ubuntu Desktop, restore your files, and walk you through the new (and much simpler) workflow. Your old PC will run faster than it did the day you bought it. We don't offer Windows troubleshooting beyond that — there are plenty of Best Buy Geek Squad and local retail PC shops that do, and we'll honestly point you their way if Ubuntu isn't an option for your situation.
What about disposing of my old hardware?
Available add-on. Standard option: secure data wipe (NIST 800-88 compliant) + recycling through a certified e-waste recycler. HIPAA-aware option for healthcare clients: certificate-of-destruction for storage media, formal chain-of-custody documentation, audit-ready disposal records. We'll document what was disposed and how, so you have records for your own compliance needs.
How does this fit with DuckBot?
DuckBot tier prices already include the appropriate Lucky Duck-spec hardware (Dell 5070 Micro or higher per tier) — you don't need to add Hardware service for the DuckBot itself. This Hardware service is for everything around the DuckBot: workstations for your team, monitors, scanners, printers, networking, POS gear. We can bundle a DuckBot rollout with an office hardware refresh into a single engagement; ask during consultation.
What's your service area for delivery?
We serve Klamath Falls (home base), Eagle Point, Medford, Ashland, Grants Pass, and Redding, California as part of our standard delivery + on-site setup region. Out-of-region orders are absolutely doable; we'll quote shipping + remote setup as add-ons. For multi-site clients with locations outside this region, we can bundle out-of-region setup into the engagement on a case-by-case basis.
What if I just need one mouse and a cable?
Honest answer: we're not the right shop for a one-off $30 cable order. Our procurement and services overhead doesn't make economic sense for items below ~$200 unless they're added to a larger order. For tiny orders, retail or Amazon is just faster and cheaper. We'd rather tell you that up front than waste your time and ours.
How do payment and billing work?
Orders under $2,500 are billed Net 10 on delivery (one invoice, due 10 days after we deliver). Orders over $2,500 use a 50% deposit at order placement / 50% on delivery split. Ongoing Hardware Retainers are monthly recurring on Net 10 terms anchored to the start date. We accept credit card, ACH, and Apple Pay through our Zoho Books + Stripe integration. Larger Custom Engagements may have milestone-based billing scoped during consultation.
What if you can't get the brand or model I want?
We'll be honest. If a specific model is supply-constrained, discontinued, or just not something we can source competitively, we'll tell you and recommend alternatives. We won't padded-quote a model we can't actually deliver. If you have a hard requirement on a specific brand or model that we can't meet, going direct or with another supplier may genuinely be the right call — we'll point you in that direction without trying to talk you out of it.
